Below are my observations and results after using the Green People Intensive Repair Shampoo  and Intensive Repair Conditioner (about $18 each) after four weeks. (Because my hair is rather dry and never gets oily, I generally shampoo about once every five to seven days, so I’ve only used these products maybe five or six times.)

Shampoo:

Odor/aroma/fragrance – I found the aroma of this shampoo rather unpleasant. It smells peculiar and medicinal to me. It’s not horrible, but I prefer a pleasant fragrance when I’m shampooing my hair. On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate it as maybe a 3 as far as the fragrance goes.

Tactile sensation – The shampoo makes a decent amount of good, soapy lather; it rinses well.

Personal findings It seems to work well on color-treated hair, and my hair and scalp felt clean and refreshed afterward.

Conditioner:

Odor/aroma/fragrance The aroma of this conditioner was not too unpleasant. It also smells somewhat medicinal to me, but it’s a much better fragrance than the shampoo. On a scale of 1-10, I’d rate it as maybe a 7 as far as fragrance goes. I think that with repeated use I could get used to it and maybe even come to like it. It’s way better than the shampoo.

Tactile sensation The conditioner seems a little thin in consistency, but that isn’t a problem for me.

Visible results – I only used both products together and discontinued use of my regular hair product, Wen by Chaz Dean, which I had used for almost a year, and which I like because it is also natural and is a one-step process.

The Green People Intensive Repair Conditioner left my hair feeling soft and easy to style. The really great thing I noticed about it is that it made my hair shine! Even the Wen doesn’t do that! I have dry hair and nothing I have tried gives my hair any shine. This does!! I was absolutely ecstatic to actually see some shine in my hair after all these years of looking for a product that would do that for me. Since I used only the two GP products together, I cannot be sure which (or both) contributed to the “shine effect.” I had to use both, because without a conditioner, I can’t get a comb through my hair, and I didn’t want to contaminate the trial with other products.

Packaging:

Both products come in nearly identical containers. It would make them easier to use if they had some sort of differentiating colors, designs, etc. I keep them together in the shower and have to read each one before use to make sure I’m using the right one. They just look too much alike.

Also, they are designed to stand on the cap. I found that because the outside of the cap doesn’t fit snugly to the tube, it can collect water when left in this position. If taking these products on a trip, for instance, one would have to make sure the caps are empty and dry (they are not easily removed for this purpose – I couldn‘t get them off). Not a really big issue, just another thought about product design.

Conclusion:

Based on what I know at this moment, I would recommend the conditioner, assuming that it was responsible for the improvement in my hair, and because the fragrance isn’t so bad.  I would not purchase the shampoo, because of the medicinal smell, but would definitely use the conditioner again.
