Hyalogic Episilk Skin Perfecting Lotion ($39.95) with hyaluronic acid and Regu-Seb is supposedly meant for combination/oily skin. I was very enthusiastic because, for me, hyaluronic acid is the ingredient that gives me instant cosmetics benefits, making my skin supple, plump and visibly hydrated.
The Episilk Skin Perfecting Lotion probably would have been a decent product if not for the Regu-Seb. I have combination skin that clogs easily and was curious to see what that ingredient was about. What a disappointment. The packaging states that Regu-Seb is a "slightly viscous solution," containing high levels of natural lignans and phytosterols. And oh yes, viscous it is. On application, the product has a kind of slimy texture, which sits on your skin exactly like these old peel-off facial masks. It dried exactly like peel-off masks dry, getting my skin all tight and glistening, forming wrinkles every time I tried to twitch a muscle. This sensation stayed on for hours. I had to apply a second layer of moisturizer on top to hydrate, but it could not undo entirely the tightness. And the worst was yet to come: When I applied sunscreen, it started pilling.
I tried the product morning and evening, different days, but unfortunately the experience did not change significantly. I also didn't feel the benefits of a typical hyaluronic acid lotion. I don't know if the Regu-Seb was too overpowering or the hyaluronic acid was just not at a high-enough concentration.
In any case, I cannot not recommend Hyalogic Episilk Skin Perfecting Lotion, even to those with greasy and acne prone skin. Nowadays products exist (Your Best Face is a perfect example) that hydrate and care for this type of skin without compromising on texture and overall performance.
