Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good

This summer, I’ve been using the Chella Hydrating Cleanser Lush Balm ($50) on my dryer than usual, fair, 55-year-old skin. I am a fan of oil cleansing in the winter but had my doubts about using such a rich product in the summer. Yet I have been converted by this yummy product.

The jar is a generous 3.5 ounces and only a tiny bit is enough to cleanse face and neck. The cleanser turns into an “emulsion” when water is added and rinses adequately with a few splashes of warm water. I really like it best when I remove the product with a washcloth and warm water. Every bit of makeup comes off easily – even mascara. My skin is perfect afterwards, not oily at all.

The cleanser smells citrusy and is a shocking pink color. My skin can be sensitive, and I would rather stay away from unnecessary ingredients, but I have not experienced any reaction to the perfume or color. The jar is not cheap ($50!), but should last for about six months if I practice restraint in my twice-a-day cleansing.

Ingredients: Olea Europeae (Olive) Fruit Oil, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Polyethylene, Limonene, Polydecene, Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax, Benzyl Alcohol, PEG-10 Sunflower Glycerides, Red #17, Fragrance (Parfum)
