As an almost 60 year old, I’ve been admonished in many beauty articles to never use a product that is frosted or has a shimmer to it. It draws attention to wrinkles and crepe-y skin. Perish the thought!
Still, we older girls yearn for the radiance of the smooth, taut skin we once possessed. I still have good cheekbones and once in a while I want a more glamourous party look that only a little (subdued) sparkle can give. So I had to try Hynt Lumiere Radiance Boosting Powder ($89).
It comes as a kit with a .28 oz jar of loose powder as well as a mini .07 oz travel size perfect for my purse, plus a (vegan) brush. Hynt Beauty claims their beauty products are all natural, vegan, PETA-approved, gluten-free and non-comedogenic.
In addition to a very subtle glimmer of a shimmer, the "boost” in Lumiere Radiance Boosting Powder apparently comes from the 8 organic essential oils including antioxidant clove bud, lavender, patchouli, geranium ,lime and açai. Hynt also adds antioxidant-rich green tea and anti-inflammatory gotu kola extracts to the powder.
I had a blast experimenting with this powder. Brushed on my cheek bones, brow and clavicle bones, the powder highlighted them in a beautifully realistic, “lit-from-within” way. I especially liked it on my eyes. It gave a healthy, wide-awake, natural look and though it did settle in my crepey creases it was barely noticeable.
Lumiere Radiance Boosting Powder can also be used to “boost” other products you may already own. I added a little powder to my daily facial moisturizer for lovely subtle sheen all over my face. About half a tablespoon mixed in with a generous dollop of body lotion gave my entire body a non-glittery healthy glow which I just loved. A dusting on the shoulders or down the length of my chin bones would be quite fetching in the summer. This powder catches the light in a very subtle refined manner suitable for women of more “mature experience” as well as pretty young things!
The secret, I think, is that it’s a finely milled powder. It is the perfect, sheer and subtle shimmer product that works alone, on top of or mixed into other products — a radiant boost to mature skin.
Hynt also states on their website that their products are “free of toxins, petrochemicals, parabens, nano-particles, bismuth oxychloride, talc [and with good reason], titanium dioxide, silicones, mineral oil, GMO’s, FD&C dyes, carmine and phthalates.”
