Here’s a funny joke: My hair in humid New York City weather.

My skin has been looking great these days – clear and creamy. However, it’s as if no one can notice my face because they are too concentrated on my frizzy hair. I have always battled frizzy hair and have come to a point where I’m just trying to “own it” because it’s too much work each morning to put toward my do, which will inevitably get frizzy by lunchtime.

Recently, we received a bunch of testers from Intelligent Nutrients, an organic skincare and hair-care line. I searched through the batch, immediately noticing the Finishing Gloss ($28.95), which instructed to apply the serum as needed to dry, styled hair. From the way it sounded, I wondered if it had the potential to be the quick fix I needed to fight my daily battle with frizz (or, at the very least, give my hair a boost of shine).

The finishing gloss ingredients list is not only certified organic, it almost looks edible. Jojoba and sesame seed oil top the list, giving this serum quite the conditioning feel. Additionally, the Intellimune Seed Complex, Intelligent Nutrient’s signature complex ingredient, provides powerful, nourishing antioxidants deriving from organic black cumin, red grape, red raspberry pumpkin and cranberry seed oils. Note: Intelligent Nutrients also sells this complex as a supplement oil.

The Finishing Gloss has an oily serum feel to it, paired with a very faint natural scent. One pump of the Finishing Gloss was enough to coat my medium length hair, though to be honest, it was a smidgen too much. The Finishing Gloss is great for adding tons of shine, and on top of shine, hair is left feeling incredibly soft. Be careful because using too much will result in a stringy, greasy look – a little goes a long way with this product.

While the product did help smooth out my hair for a little while, I have used better products to tame frizzy hair in the past. However, used strictly as a gloss, Intelligent Nutrients does a great job at providing shine and conditioning very dry hair, giving a relatively smooth appearance, for both naturally curly and blow-dried-straight hair. I’m curious to explore other products from Intelligent Nutrients as this might be the first time I felt absolutely no guilt for putting something on my hair (there are no “nasties” here).
