Aldo Celeste founded Sciote Skin in 2011 on the principles of mindfulness, empowering clients with knowledge and using only the cleanest, purest ingredients. A veteran of the beauty industry, Aldo brings to his company a blend of professional experience and a unique outlook that radiates positivity. He and Sciote have developed skincare that is both natural and effective, products you can feel good about putting on your skin.

You were part of the beauty industry for over 25 years before starting Sciote. What inspired you to launch your own company?

I can't believe it has been over 25 years ... wow! Well, I have had the incredible privilege to work alongside some of today's industry leaders such as Bobbi Brown, Jeanine Lobell, and Vincent Longo. They are not only wonderful friends, they have been inspirational teachers over the years. They taught me about myself and to always stay true to my beliefs and convictions and for this I am sincerely grateful. I was encouraged by the best!

My passion has always been skin, so when I created Sciote Skin I wanted to make sure that my line was a complete reflection of myself and my belief in balance. Sciote Skin's philosophy is a simple one: use the purest ingredients from nature and science, be mindful of the environment, but most importantly to give our clients the knowledge to make an educated decision about their skincare.

I wanted a skin care line that was not only as "clean" as possible but also produced visible results while being transparent (no hidden ingredients).

What was the most valuable thing you learned about skincare from working in the beauty industry?

When I first started in the skin care industry I was definitely a follower of sorts. I was younger and had such a passion for everything, but while growing up in the industry I remember feeling that I needed to fit in and that to me meant following every trend. I never stopped to think about what I was putting on my skin or my client’s skin. Today fitting in has an entirely different meaning to me. It now means feeling comfortable in my own skin, having convictions and standing by them. Always stay true to yourself, that will always open doors.

Sciote’s philosophy emphasizes knowing yourself and feeling comfortable in your skin. How have you learned to feel comfortable in your skin over time?

The word Sciote is Latin for "Know Thyself" hence our tagline, "To know your skin is to know thyself." This is really important to me and my company. Feeling comfortable in your own skin is by far one of the most important things to me. Of course this comes with time and lots of trials throughout your life. At some point you have to stop worrying about what people think of you and do what feels right in your heart. I have learned that following your heart will always bring you to the point you need to be at that very moment. I'm not perfect, none of us are, but I try to stay true to myself and this gives me the confidence and drive I need to keep going.

You also stress the importance of gratitude. What are you most grateful for? How does this influence the products you create at Sciote?

I am truly grateful for many things in my life. First and foremost it would be my family, friends and my spirituality. All of these contribute in some way to my creativity. I am blessed to be able to pull from all of them on a day-to-day basis but also when I'm creating Sciote products.

Natural and botanical ingredients are a huge part of Sciote’s formulas. Are you an ingredient junkie? What ingredient(s) are you most excited about at the moment?

Yes I am!! I love the endless possibilities when it comes to natural and botanical ingredients. I feel nature holds all the answers and it's up to us to find them. I have really loved working with Globularia Cordifolia Callus extract in our Advanced Omni Phyto-Cell Serum and Advanced Omni Phyto-Cell Serum Creme. This plant based stem cell is not only natural and organic but it is an anti-aging powerhouse!

I also LOVE Hyalurosmooth that is found in many of our products. Hyalurosmooth is a botanically derived hyaluronic acid that provides intense moisturization, skin radiance and reduces fine lines and wrinkles by plumping and smoothing the skin surface.

What skincare product can you never go without?

It's a tie: Peptide + Defense Firming Eye Crème ($70 in the shop) and Advanced Omni Phyto-Cell Serum ($130 in the shop).

What does your daily skincare routine look like?

My skin care regimen changes from time to time but my daily staples are Vitamin C 20% Super Serum, Vitamin C Eye Treatment ($65 in the shop), Advanced Super Moist, Advanced Firming Eye Creme, Advanced Omni Phyto-Cell Serum and Advanced Omni Photo-Cell Face Creme ($115 in the shop).

What can we expect from Sciote next? What’s on the horizon?

We are extremely proud about launching Project D.A.N.S (Donate And Nourish the Soul) earlier this year. It is Sciote's way of taking humanitarian steps and making responsible decisions to protect Mother Earth and all living creatures. We are also a proud member of the Green Spa Network with promotes awareness and knowledge about the green movement.

As far as products are concerned we are always working very hard to discover nature’s secrets so we can pass those secrets along to you. Keep a close lookout for new Sciote products coming this fall and next spring!

I've been searching for a good retinol product to try for a while. Reading this article, I find myself wanting to try Sciote Retinol serum. I like his philosophy of being true to yourself and stop worrying what others think. I especially loved his philosophy and passion for his products. There are too many products out there with seemingly good ingredients and lots of promises but not much visible results. It is hard to make an educated decision for my skin, at least for me it is true. Thank you Mr. Celeste and Marta for sharing this article. I would be honored to try Sciote Retinol serum.

I would love to "dare to try" this retinol serum. I've yet to find something in the retinols I've tried that I can say I truly love and see the difference. Perhaps this could break the curse! ;-)
