IQ Derma Firmaceuticals Firming Body Gel is marketed as a firming body gel which is a "highly concentrated body-contouring gel formulated to target cellulite to help smooth and firm the appearance of skin." Here are the ingredients:
Water, Propanidol, Glycerin, Cocoglucoside, Caprylyl glycol, Alcohol, Glaucine, Butylene glycol, Nelumbo nucifera leaf extract, Caffeine, Sodium Saucylate, Lysolecithin, Hydrogneated lecithin, Aspartame, Soybean (Glycine soja), Germ extract, Silica, Coleus forshohui, Acrylates/C10-30, Alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Cluconolactone, Sodium benzoate
One of the ingredients seemed very intriguing - Nelumbo nucifera, or lotus plant. On the website Natural Standard, I found the following information: Nelumbo nucifera has been used throughout Egypt, the Middle East, India and China since ancient times, primarily as a food. The flowers, seeds, leaves, and rhizomes of the lotus are all edible. The petals of the flower are used as a wrap for foods in Asia and the rhizome is a common ingredient in soups and stir-fried foods.
All parts of the lotus plant, but primarily the flower, have been used medicinally for over 1,000 years. Primary uses mentioned in secondary texts include gastrointestinal and bleeding disorders. However, there is little available scientific evidence supporting these uses. In a 2006 study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, it was found that a concentrate of lotus leaf, when given to mice to ingest,"impaired digestion, inhibited absorption of lipids and carbohydrates, accelerated lipid metabolism and up-regulated energy expenditure. Consequently, Nelumbo Nucifera Extract is beneficial for the suppression of obesity." Keep in mind, however, that these mice were eating a concentrated extract of the plant.
The user is directed to, for best results, dispense a quarter-sized amount onto the hand and massage into clean skin twice a day. My regimen was just that. I used it every morning after my shower on towel-dried skin and massaged it very vigorously until I was satisfied that it had been absorbed.
I also did the same thing before bed most days. Target areas for me were my belly and upper rear thighs. During the first few days I used it, I felt that my skin was a bit tighter but could not really say that it looked any different. The fresh smell was heavenly, though! It seemed only fair to give the product a real chance, so I kept on using it until it was gone. The heavenly smell faded somewhat but I kept rubbing it in very vigorously as before.
Now that I have come to the end of the 200 ml/ 6.5 oz tube, I can say that I don't really see much of a difference. I asked my husband for his opinion, but he is too wise to fall into such traps, and would only say that he always finds me beautiful. IQ Derma Firming Body Gel retails for $80.00. I would suggest you spend the money on a romantic dinner with someone who always thinks you're pretty. Order the lotus root.
