A few months ago, I washed my hair nearly every day using your average drug store shampoo, constantly coming across chunks of my hair in the drain following each rinse. When I switched to Nutra-Lift Healthy Nutrient Shampoo as per Marta's suggestion, that quickly changed. Very little shedding had occurred after the switch to Nutra-Lift. This was huge for me as already losing a ton of hair while only in my mid-20s makes me depressed about my hair's future. Alongside the Nutra-Lift Shampoo, I was using Shielo Color Reflecting Conditioner.  This conditioner worked well with my weak curly hair, not weighing my hair down too much and leaving it smooth and less frizzy than normal.

Parting from my Nutra-Lift shampoo and Shielo conditioner was rough, but conveniently enough I ran out of product in time to try out the Jason Thin to Thick line, and boy, am I glad I did. With Jason Thin to Thick, not only is my hair not shedding, but the shampoo/conditioner combo leaves my hair feeling softer and voluminous.  It hasn't done much for split ends as the ends of my hair are quite dry, but I'll also admit I am in dire need of a trim.

Jason Thin to Thick is a part of the overall brand Jason Natural, which aims to create effective and natural products for skin and hair.  The Thin to Thick line specializes in volume building, claiming to add 10% more fullness with the use of amino acids and AHAs in its shampoo and conditioner, along with body building and moisturizing ingredients such as biotin, plant proteins and panthenol.

The shampoo and conditioner ($12 each), which have a smooth peppermint scent, have some conditioning fruit extracts including aloe, chamomile, lemon and a few others, which aid in keeping hair moisturized.  Also in the mix is biotin, which is relatively safe and natural in building body to the hair, though no real studies actually really proven to do so.

While the shampoo and conditioner seemed to be effective and did not give me an adverse reaction of any kind, there are surprisingly a handful of irritants to watch out for including coco-betaine, potassium hydroxide, and sodium benzoate.  Unfortunately, you’ll also find phenoxyethanol in the conditioner, which (at 100% concentration) the FDA has warned can cause a shut down of the nervous system, vomiting, and contact dermatitis.  While one of the last ingredients to be listed in the conditioner, some might choose to avoid the conditioner altogether, as even at concentrations lower than 1%.

Since beginning use of the Jason Thin to Thick line, I feel I have more hair to work with thanks to all the volume it provides. I'm fairly certain there is no new growth just yet, but it's also too soon to tell.
