My current beauty goals are all working towards brighter and more radiant skin by perfecting my daily skincare routine. While my efforts have proven to steer my skin in the right direction, some days my skin will still look dull. In hopes to give my face some life in more of an instantaneous fashion, I decided to try Josie Maran's Argan Illuminizer.

Josie Maran's Cosmetics--or as they refer to it, “Luxury with a Conscience”--claims to be organic, natural, paraben-free, and made with love. Argan oil has become increasingly popular, found in skincare and cosmetic products across the board. Deriving from Argan trees found solely in Morocco, it acts as a hydrating and anti-inflammatory emollient, and serves as a powerful do-it-all skincare ingredient.

The Argan Illuminizer ($28 for 1oz) comes in a small glass bottle with a pump and lists very simple instructions. "Apply alone or mixed with foundation for an instant boost and a natural glow." I tried this product a few times before getting it right for the look I hoped to achieve.

-On bare skin with no foundation, it provided a nice luminescent glow, however, did not cover or blend well with the redness on my face.
-Mixed with foundation, it offered a nice subtle shimmer to my face, without being overwhelming. I was careful to not apply this to areas of my face that are prone to shine. I feel this method would be better suited for those who use very little foundation.
-Used over foundation (my preferred method), the Illuminizer was a great compliment to my blush, while also a sufficient replacement. Applying this to my cheekbones and the temples of my forehead and just the tiniest bit down the slope of my nose really highlighted and illuminated my skin, giving me a natural, dewy glow.

Josie Maran's Argan Illuminizer consists of many skin-conditioning oils, mainly its namesake Argan oil. Additionally, its active mineral mica is responsible for the glow you'll achieve. There are some bad guys to look out for including zinc stearate, though only a mild irritant, is far too high on the ingredient’s list. Ethylhexyl palmitate and tocopheryl acetate are some other irritants you should look out for, the latter being linked to cancer and a few cases of contact dermatitis.

When using the Argan Illuminizer, keep in mind a little goes a long way.  Though it took me a few tries to appreciate it, the Argan Illuminizer will most definitely be my go-to for instant dewy skin.
