KaplanMD LIP20 GLOSS ($30 in the TIA shop)  is not just another pretty box. I was pleased with the performance of the lip plumper/ lip gloss. I'm very critical of lip gloss and carry 4-5 in my purse on a regular basis. I have thrown away too many to count always in search of the perfect gloss. I have what I refer to as a trifecta approach to lip gloss. I'm looking for good texture, a smell that I don't mind, and ingredients that I won't worry about swallowing as I lick my lips. I have to wear gloss or chap stick year round as my lips are dry especially in the winter. I prefer gloss because it does double duty as a moisturizer and putting some color on my lips. I started out with full lips, however at 41 years old I'm losing that plumpness and use a lip plumper on a regular basis to get the look of fuller lips.

Now I can't stand anything that feels tacky on my lips. One of my pet peeves is feeling like I've just spackled my lips with compound or am trying to slide one of my kids glue sticks across my lips. and I also don't want to waste time and money on anything that goes on smoothly, but disappears in minutes. I've had the experience with lip gloss where after wearing gloss it starts to feel like its coating my throat (sounds weird I know) which I believe to be due to texture. I performed a side by side comparison of texture with, the Balm lip plump, which I have been using. KaplanMD LIP20 GLOSS has the best texture I have encountered in a lip gloss. It is goes on smooth, no tacky texture, and yet has staying power. You don't have to keep reapplying. You also don't have to worry about it feeling like it's coating the back of your throat with wax.

I have a hard time finding perfumes that smell good on me. I think I have a strange chemical/hormone balance that makes most scents smell obnoxious on me. This leads me to being picky about scents in lip glosses especially since once applied they're right under my nose. I have had to throw away gloss because I couldn't stand the smell of it once it was on me. KaplanMD. LIP20GLOSS has a light scent of vanilla and mint. That scent actually seems to disappear after a short period of time once the gloss was on my lips.

The ingredients for LIP20 GLOSS are listed below and I found them to be innovative and not scary. I found myself comparing them to my other lip glosses and found my other lip glosses to be wanting.

A side by side comparison of how the Balm lip plumper and KaplanMD. LIP20GLOSS on my lips showed similarities in the amount fullness I experienced with my lips. Both gave my lips a little more fullness than naturally, however the Balm plumper gave me a little more fullness while LIP20GLOSS made my lips look more even in the fullness of my lips. Another difference between the two was that LIP20GLOSS went on with a slight tingling sensation that quickly disappeared. The Balm plumper went on with noticeable tingling and the tingling sensation stayed for quite awhile. There are sparkles in my LIP20GLOSS and the name of the color is, natural sparkle. These sparkles are subtle and seem to reflect many different colors and add dimension to my lips which added to the look of fullness of my lips.

Here I want to address the key features and benefits that Kaplan MD. LIP20GLOSS lists on their insert:

Seabuckthorn Berry Extract

A moisturizer 20x more effective than vitamin E alone.

I agree with this benefit. My lips loved the moisturizing effects from the gloss. They stayed moisturized even after the gloss had worn off. I usually end up with these little dry skin tags on my lips even with using gloss. I don't have anymore of those annoying little things after using LIP20GLOSS.

Hyaluronic Filling Spheres

Marine Collagen spheres which micro-inject into the lip tissues to help smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

My fine lines were smoothed out and I guess what you could call wrinkles on my lips were smoothed out, but don't expect any wrinkles above the lip line to be smoothed out.

Phytogenic Triactive Complex

Soy, Grapeseed, and Black Cohosh for superior antiageng benefits

This is something that will take more time to know for sure, but my lips do look like they stay fuller even hours later without the lip gloss on.

C10-30 Esters

Extraordinary skin conditioning & repair.

I believe this feature is also responsible for my lips staying a little more full than normal even hours later.

Maxi-Lip

A patented peptide that helps redefine the lip line & contour

I honestly didn't notice a change in my lip definition or contour.

When using this product the changes are not what I would call prominent, but noticeable.

$30.00 is expensive and not everyone will want to spend the money. I don't like the idea of spending $30.00 for lip gloss, however for this one I will. This is the nicest lip gloss I have used and while not perfect and not going to give you the lips you had at age 20 it is worth the money.
