I was pretty excited to test the Kat Burki Ocean Mineral Face Wash ($34). I was hoping the scent would be reminiscent of the ocean. While it has a pleasant and mild scent, it does not smell at all like the ocean to me.
I went to the Kat Burki website to read up on this face wash and learned it is “A skin balancing, water soluble face wash, infused with a restorative Ocean Mineral Complex (OMC92) [that] offers an unparalleled cleansing." The website claims that this face wash helps to remove makeup while purifying skin and leaving it softer and brighter.
I looked around on their site and could not find any information on OMC92, which I will say bothered me a bit. I did some research and found out that saponins are chemical compounds found in some plant species that produce a soap-like foam when added to water. I felt a bit better about the product reading that. The ingredient list is full of things like arnica, lavender, coconut oil, olive oil, tea tree oil, red clover, rosehip oil, chamomile and aloe vera. It’s a veritable who’s who of things that are good for your skin. Despite all these wonderful ingredients, I wasn’t that impressed with this product. I found it to be hard to rinse off, and it didn’t do a very good job of cleaning off all my makeup. I also found my skin to be a little on the tight side after use.
It’s not a bad face wash. For someone else it might be the one. For me though, my quest for a Holy Grail of face washes continues.
