I'm pretty sure I have said it before, but if not, let it be known: I am a scrub junkie. I love the feeling of a good scrub, and I have to stop myself from scrubbing too often, lest I end up doing more harm than good. This is a particular problem for me in the winter, when my skin seems to lose every drop of moisture and flakes and itches in ways guaranteed make me even crazier than I already am.
And so, it was with a great feeling of "Oh goody, ANOTHER ONE!" that I began using Kat Burki Raw Sugar Scrub ($48 in the shop). The ingredients were terrific, especially the quadruple oil combo that I couldn't wait to slather all over my winter skin: sunflower, coconut, kukui, and macadamia. Plus organic sucrose for the scrubbing, vegetable glycerin for the smoothness, and methylsufonylmethane (MSM) for firming and anti-aging. Sounds great, right?
GOOD NEWS: IT TOTALLY IS. I LOVE this scrub. First off, it smells great and I kind of wanted to eat it (though of course I did not). But more important than that, it works spectacularly well. The scrub is both gentle and effective, and there's a great bonus — the moisture. MY GOD, THE MOISTURE! Not only did it moisturize my skin, but there was plenty of moisture to shave my legs. To me, that is a very worthwhile bonus, because I have found shaving in the winter to be so very drying. With this scrub, it's not a problem, and I was able to use it every other day on my legs with no ill effects whatsoever.
The price might look a little high, at $48 for 8.8 ounces. But a little goes a long way, so with care, this can last you a while. I am looking forward to trying more of Kat Burki's products; if this scrub is any indication, I think I'm going to like her a lot!
