When Kyoku for Men recently launched in the United States, I wondered if it would be just as good as some of our own great brands. After all, it was kind of a big thing in the UK. The fact it incorporates ancient Japanese rituals and tradition with modern scientific research had me at hello so I got my hands on some samples. What really impressed me was the Koyku for Men Facial Moisturizer SPF 15.
The interesting thing about Kyoku for Men is that the developer, Asim Akhtar, was inspired by the skin of men in a small village in Japan. Their skin was quite impeccable (the average age is over 60) and he learned that—due to their diet and skincare regimen that consisted of local plants and herbs—they had five times the amount of hyaluronic acid than the average male. Hyaluronic acid, a water-binding agent that fully hydrates the skin, helps promote collagen formation and is one of the best moisturizing agents. The irony? There is none in the Facial Moisturizer.
There is, however, great natural ingredients that stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid in the skin, and this makes it worth buying. The potent (and very unique) mixture of bamboo, glucosamine and pea extract is rich in peptides, which help reduce lines and wrinkles. There's also vitamin e, which definitely contributes to this act by reducing the number of free radicals to lower the oxidative stress that leads to aging. Want even more means of softness and healthy skin? Thanks to the sunflower oil, green tea leaf and avocado oil, water loss is prevented, and softness reassured. There's also plankton, which protect cells of the skin's immune system, deflecting UV light. Along with the SPF active ingredients, you can be assured sun damage is the least of your problems.
There's also what Asim developed and patented, called the Micro-Particle Technology. This delivery mechanism ensures the ingredient is at maximum effect at the cellular level by altering the actual metabolic functioning of skin cells. The collagen support structure is enhanced, thus improving the skin from inside out. Thanks to these ingredients, it looks like it will work.
The other products in the Kyoku for Men line are equally impressive. Not a bad import.
