A perfect addition for your autumn skin regime

Fall is a time of year when we become obsessed with flavors and scents, such as pumpkin. However, a personal favorite of mine is cranberry, which is why reviewing Lather’s Cranberry Sugar Rub ($19 in the shop) was something that I was eager to do.

Lather is a brand whose slogan is “Clean skin for a radiant life,” and this rub did make my skin radiant – and soft. The rub uses cranberry seeds and sugar to exfoliate, leaving behind smooth skin.

When I opened up the scrub, the fragrance was the first thing that I noticed. It did not smell like cranberry as I had expected it to. Instead, it had a top note of orange oil, with a bottom note of cinnamon. The result was sweet yet spicy, which gave it a warm and cozy feel – perfect for fall. The fragrance does not linger for very long, making the rub perfect to use during your morning shower.

Cinnamon oil is an interesting ingredient in this rub because not only does it act as a fragrance ingredient; it also warms up when it comes in contact with the skin. This sensation took me by surprise, and I did not like it at first. It was just strange, but I got used to it after repeated use.

The Cranberry Sugar Rub uses many natural essential oils to moisturize the skin. These include soybean, sunflower, sesame seed, macadamia seed, and sweet almond oils.

I noticed that Lather also uses an oil in this rub that I have not seen before, called kukui nut oil. Kukui nut oil comes from the Hawaiian kukui tree, the official state tree. It has been around for many years, but has recently started showing up in personal care products. Kukui nut oil is used to treat dry or damaged skin, and can also be used to treat burns, eczema, and acne.

Lather’s Cranberry Sugar Rub is a great fall product that I do recommend for its skin-smoothing results.

Ingredients: Polysorbate 20, turbinado sugar (sucrose), glycine soya (soybean) oil, silica, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, sesame indicum (sesame) seed oil, prunus amygdalus ducis (sweet almond) oil, aleurites moluccana (kukui nut) seed oil, macadamia ternifolia (macadamia) seed oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) oil, cinnamonum cassia (cinnamon) oil, vaccinium macrocarpon (cranberry) seeds, dmdm hydantoin, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate
