Lather Manuka Body Butter- reviewed and recommended

Is a Solution for:
Dry Skin

Lather describes its Manuka Body Butter with Grapefruit & Juniper ($22) as “an extra rich, moisturizing body treatment,” which I would absolutely agree with. The important word to note here is “treatment.” This is not an everyday body lotion that I will slather on anywhere. This product is thick and luxurious, ideal for extra-dry winter elbows, knees, feet, and cuticles. Ingredients such as manuka honey, cocoa butter, shea butter, and kukui nut oil give this product its intense moisturizing properties. Also included are juniper, grapefruit, and lemon essentials oils, which are meant to “invigorate the body and mind.” I’m not sure about that, but these ingredients do give this lotion a unique, sweet, citrus-y scent.

Lather recommends that you “apply [body butter] liberally to skin” and “massage in a circular motion until treatment is absorbed.” If you were to follow these instructions, you’d be rubbing in this lotion for quite a long time. Applying too much of this product makes my skin overly greasy, so I only apply it in small amounts to areas that really need the extra moisture. However, even applying a small amount can still take a while to sink in. I prefer to only apply it at night, and I let it absorb while I sleep so I can wake up to soft, smooth skin. One of my favorite ways to use the body butter is applying it to my feet before putting on socks – my heels have never looked better.

Overall, I would recommend this product as a night body treatment, especially during this time of the year, when my skin really needs it. By applying it carefully, I find it extremely enjoyable to use – not only for its skin-softening properties, but for the delicious scent as well.
