LATHER Pink Grapefruit & Ginger Body Scrub- reader reviewed

Not every product can be “the best of the best.” Unfortunately, I relearned this lesson when trying out LATHER Pink Grapefruit & Ginger Body Scrub ($18 for 4 oz). It’s by no means a bad product; there is just nothing spectacular about it. It’s simply… average.

By reading the product description on LATHER’s website, I feel as though LATHER realizes this too. The brand plays up the “delicious scent,” which I completely agree with, but the only other adjectives that suggest skin benefits are “calming,” “soothing,” and “hydrating” (which I don’t agree with).  Personally, I would rather a body scrub be more effective at buffing dry skin than “soothing” it.

As far as exfoliating goes, the scrub is not as course as I would like. It has large granules of sugar to do the job, but there are not enough in the product to effectively exfoliate. During use, I noticed how sparse the granules were and was forced to use a lot of product to achieve the desired exfoliation. The ingredients also include “emollient oils” and shea butter for hydrating effects, but I didn’t feel like my body was getting extra moisture from using this product.

However, despite everything else, this product was enjoyable to use and I finished the jar without a struggle. The sweet, citrus scent is invigorating and delicious. To clarify, LATHER Pink Grapefruit & Ginger Body Scrub, did exfoliate — just not as much as I hoped it would. Even though it was inexpensive, I wouldn’t buy it again. Not because it’s a terrible product, but because I believe there are better options out there.
