Lavender has been used as an herbal relaxation remedy for centuries. I was never sold on aromatherapy, however. I thought the sensory experience obtained through aromatherapy was all in people's heads.

For the record, I am 45 years old. I work part time as a probation parole officer, have been married for 11 years, and have an active seven-year-old son. I also compete in fitness competitions. I am busy and high strung — your typical Type A personality.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered the LATHER Quiet Night Relaxing Balm ($9) actually worked. I applied this balm to my temples and forehead prior to going to bed; I also used this balm on my son. The product is not greasy. It glides onto the skin and does not leave a residue. I have sensitive skin and I did not break out. A little of this product goes a long way. The smell of the lavender is strong, but not obnoxious; my son and I both enjoyed the smell.

The Lather Relaxing Balm worked. My son and I were able to relax as we read books. We also fell asleep rather quickly. I would recommend this product to anyone, especially those with children and grandchildren.
