LED update: my second treatment

Reviewed by Marta May 3, 2008 6 Comments
Four days ago I had my second LED treatment. The first was a month ago. My esthetician, Ildi Pekar, uses the Lightwave LED machine. The treatment, which lasts 20 minutes, comes after a little microdermabrasian and an intensive microcurrent session. It is followed by a cooling bast of oxygen.

This regime is fairly gentle and it is certainly non-invasive. Yet the results are really tangible: clearer and firmer skin, fading sun spots. Actually, there is more. I think I do look a bit fresher and younger. Enthusiastically recommended.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the home devices. I believe that a reader mentioned trying DPL LED for $349. I would need to do more research before recommending anything because they could do more harm than good.

Probably depends where you are - in New York its typically about $125 per session.

What does the LED treatment cost? And are there any home devices that one can buy that will do the same thing?

I ask because I had a treatment this weekend, I could swear that it lessened the redness of my roseacea, but I can't tell if that is just wishful thinking.

Thinking about it objectively, it doesn't seem like 20-30 minutes of LED light should have that much of an effect, but looking in the mirror, it obviously does. I guess I'll keep them up once a month for now, and see what happens.
