One thing I love about Truth In Aging is the mixture of great products that they offer us. Unlike major store brands that we see the same ads for repeatedly, Truth In Aging brings to light the creative and scientific genius of people who would otherwise never get a chance to be seen. For example, the Purify + Clarify Daily Cleanser, Detox Mask & Gentle Exfoliant ($65 in the shop) I just reviewed from LiftLab.
I always thought washing my face was for just one purpose: getting all the makeup and dirt off. Whether the cleanser dried my skin out or not was never considered because I could then moisturize after. Soap is soap, my mom used to say. Maybe back in her day, but not so anymore! LiftLab has completely changed my mind about cleansers.
When I got my 1.0 fl oz white tube (trial size) and squeezed out the instructed white, pea-sized amount on my finger, I flashed back to the dreaded creamy cleansers of the past that felt greasy and required multiple washes. Then my second thought was really a question—how will this tiny amount really clean my 45-year-old, combination skin with a day’s worth of oil, dirt, makeup and environmental pollutants? Surely, my t-zone will require a squirt of my usual drug store brand as a finisher. Then I was met with a total surprise. The only way to explain it is to share the process as it happened:
I moisten my fingers first, squeeze said pea-sized amount of white cream onto my fingers, spread a little with both fingertips and apply to my cheeks, forehead and chin. Then, like magic, the cleanser begins to foam and swell as I rub it all over my face. It feels literally like warm silk as it glides on my skin. It smells so very good, like clean soap, not flowers or chemicals. I love it so much that I keep rubbing. When I finally rinse with warm water, it comes off easily. I pat my face dry and my skin feels refreshed and wonderful. To make sure it’s not too good to be true, I do my cleanse test to make sure it really worked. I take a toner on a cotton ball, swipe and see if anything else is left. Nope. It’s all true and I’m sold.
To make things even better, Purify + Clarify is not just a daily cleanser, but can be used as a mask as well to detoxify pores. All you have to do is leave it on for three minutes a couple times a week. I confess I probably did that more often because I would sit and massage my skin with it for a long time. So why is it so amazing?
Purify + Clarify Daily Cleanser, Detox Mask & Gentle Exfoliant has no parabens and sulfates and won’t clog pores. It contains Aqualumine enzymes from red caviar (yep, fish eggs) that are natural exfoliants that won’t irritate. It has an olive oil derivative called Olivem 300 that mimics the skin's own sebum to prevent dryness along with antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory botanicals . LiftLab has tapped into the wonders of the Arctic to bring Cell Protection Proteins (CPP) that encourage cell turnover and reverse skin damage. Furthermore, it leaves a lovely, refreshed and clean canvas that seemed to help my moisturizer work more effectively. In fact, I needed less moisturizer than when I used my usual store brand.
If that isn’t enough, my husband, who has oily skin and is a hard-core and loyal store brand user (we use the same one), began to use it too. He even asked me to buy it for us. Sorry Mom, but all soap is not created equal. LiftLab saw to that!
