I’ve been using Ling New York Oxygen Plasma Potion ($85) for about six weeks. It is being promoted as something celebrities swear by and estheticians can’t get enough of. This potion sounds like the best thing that has happened to skin since the beginning of time and the fountain of youth. Though I wouldn’t compare it to the fountain of youth, I must say it has been very beneficial for my skin.

The story behind Ling products is an inspiring one: Ling Chang, owner and founder of Ling Skin Care, was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the U.S. in the early 70s and realized her American dream. Her early passion for the healing power of traditional Chinese herbs and remedies applied to skin potions and skincare found a successful path in this country. Ling products have now been available for more than 30 years.

I was surprised to learn that the ingredients are so minimal; six overall. The most important ingredient is perfluorodecalin (oxygen plasma 17%), an oxygen-carrying complex developed by the U.S. military to treat battlefield burns. It mimics the blood’s ability to carry oxygen into cells, which helps them regenerate quickly. Perfluorodecalin seems to be a miracle elixir that helps clarify acne, fade dark spots and reduce wrinkles. It contains organic sulfur, which Ling claims kills the bacteria that cause blemishes and triggers formation of collagen and elastin as well. The remainders of the ingredients are preservatives that replace parabens.

Oxygen Plasma Potion is considered a serum for restoring the “glow” in your complexion; it did just that for me and more! I think the glow is difficult for us to discern in the mirror. But when a pretty 40-year-old mom with perfect skin told me I had great skin, it made me glow inside. I usually say I was blessed with good genes, but this time I added that I had a little help! I also noticed that the itchy red spot I had on my right cheek disappeared and is no longer itchy – I’m not sure when that happened, but I realized it when I did an evaluation for this review. My age spots do seem to be lighter, though not significantly... but then again, it’s only been six weeks.

The potion dispenses the perfect amount to cover my entire face. It is not greasy and spreads evenly and easily. The price is reasonable at $85 for 1 ounce, which goes a long way (I still have a third left). So, yes I would definitely purchase this product again. It is effective, gentle and the cost is reasonable!
