Luxtural says best when used with other two products in the line

Always being on the quest for a hydrating product that will leave me dewy, not oily, greasy or, heaven forbid, still dry – and after loving the Arcona Desert Mist ($35) – I was thrilled to be able to test the Luxtural Mystique Fountain Facial Deep Hydrating Rainy Mist ($93) for the TIA community. My hopes were high for this product, as it had antioxidant properties and made such wonderful promises of superb hydration and helping skin retain its moisture. Sounds yummy, sign me up. While boasting pure Pacific Ocean rainwater (gathered before touching the ground), exotic extracts and other superior natural ingredients – all of which had me thinking that in a mere four weeks’ time, I very likely would be morphed into the likeness of Esther Williams in Pagan Love Song!

Mystique Fountain is indeed a mist, which I did enjoy – the spray pump functioned without fail, there was no distinct odor, it did not cause any breakouts, and I did not see any overspray marks on countertop or towels. Unfortunately, it also did not perform.

I initially tried it on my freshly washed and dried face (as directed), and I was greatly disappointed when over a three-week period it did nothing but make my face feel dry. That feeling never changed over the entire time I tested, from first application until the last, the result was the same each time. I then tried layering it OVER my regular moisturizer, to no effect. I then moved downward to my neck and décolletage hoping that I may find some moisturizing difference there – nothing, nada, zippo. So, just to be quadruply sure, I tried it on my hands, the hardest-working, most abused part of my body. Sprayed generously on the backs of my hands, rubbed in like hand lotion… then slathered lotion on top of that, especially at nighttime, using a rich cream. Again, nothing. No change.

So, after five weeks of applying from face down to hands, sadly, I am unable to recommend this product.

My Esther Williams transformation will have to wait for another day.
