Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser- reviewed and recommended

Reviewed by MaryW July 14, 2011 1 Comment

If you are a person with sensitive dry skin, Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser ($16) is for you. It comes in a small attractive glass bottle that is easily reusable. The cleanser is very creamy with a very light sweet natural scent.  Since there is no added fragrance, it is impossible to place the exact source of the pleasant and soothing scent. It could possibly be shea butter, which is listed as the 4thingredient.

Besides water and shea butter, the other main ingredients are sesame oil, caprylic/capric triglycerides (liquid derived from coconut oil and glycerin) and cetearyl glucoside (corn and coconut derived emulsifier). All these ingredients are mild, moisturizing and safe.  Almost every single ingredient in this cleanser is a humectant and/or skin-conditioning agent. I was very impressed that this cleanser didn’t contain any commonly used yet highly irritating natural ingredients such as lavender or menthol. From the green tea to the orchid extract, everything in it is gentle and calming.

I only have two small complaints. This cleanser is on the pricey side for only 4 ounces.  It also doesn’t remove heavy makeup very well. If you are wearing a lot of makeup, be sure to use a light toner or makeup remover to take off the last traces of makeup.

This is a lovely texture, pleasantly neutral scented face wash that doesn't strip the skin or irritate it. My daughter uses it and loves it for her sensitive skin. She doesn't wear much make-up, so I can't speak to its ability to remove lots of make-up. She is now a Mad Hippy addict.
