I am 48 years old with dry, sensitive skin prone to breakouts and redness. I typically use serums for wrinkles, Tazorac for the acne, sunscreen, and assorted moisturizers. It is difficult to find the right combination of moisture to combat the dry patches without making the breakouts worse. I am forever on the quest for clear, hydrated skin so I can reduce my reliance on concealer and foundation.
I have been using MAD Skincare’s Redness Rescue ($36 in the shop) for more than four weeks, during which my face has been extraordinarily dry with some peeling. During the first two weeks, I was using a topical prescription to address my acne breakouts, which was too drying for my sensitive skin. Thankfully, I had just received Redness Rescue, which promised to calm and heal my skin. Since my skin was red and peeling, it needed serious calming and healing.
Despite my whole face needing to be rescued, for experiment’s sake, I used Redness Rescue only on the left side of my face, for about one week. Within a couple of days I noticed definite improvement on the left side as compared to the right. I didn’t see the point in making the right side of my face suffer any more, so I began using the Redness Rescue all over my face wherever I had redness and flakes (just about all over). The Redness Rescue helped, but the peeling skin continued, so I discontinued the acne prescription. My face returned to its usual red, dry, acne-prone state, which continued to challenge the Redness Rescue.
After a total of four weeks’ use, I can report that this clear blue gel has made a positive difference. My face has always had redness (possibly rosacea?) on my cheeks and chin, and this has significantly calmed down. The product is a clear, thin, odorless gel that can be applied on clean skin any time of day. It does not feel like a moisturizer; it feels more like a repairing gel that absorbs into your skin right away. I use it morning and night, along with serums, followed by heavier moisturizers when needed. I also liked using it with my Sirius Skinsonic device ($49 in the shop). It has played well with all of my other products, and does not interfere with makeup. Although I still suffer from my usual breakouts, I do not think the Redness Rescue has caused any breakouts, and I will continue using it. I am impressed with this product and am looking into purchasing other MAD products. If you have battled redness and dry, damaged skin, I can recommend this as part of your daily regimen.
