I've always been a little dubious when specialized grooming lines deliver products that don't necessarily "fit" within their brand. For instance, if Redken came out with a face wash, I probably wouldn't use it. Colgate body lotion? No thank you.
So when I was given the Art of Shaving Eye Gel as a birthday gift last week, I didn't really give it much thought. After all, Art of Shaving knows shaving. What would they know about the eye area?
But I have to admit, I have been impressed. What's really cool about blue chamomile essential oil is that it's one of the most potent anti-inflammatories out there. The eye gel definitely has an herbaceous aroma that's soft and pleasant and not chemical-ish. Blue Chamomile essential oil is great for soothing (it's linked to actually help nervous tension and stress) and also acne (you can bet that when one of those suckers pop up on my face I'm going to test the gel on it to see what happens). There's also horse chestnut bark extract which is meant to reduce dark circles. It actually is quite popular for reducing "vein" health (like varicose veins) but when applied topically it is less potent (but still a great antioxidant!).
Good job, AoS. I have never actually tried the shaving products but I'm hoping when that time comes around it will be well worth it ((gauging from the nice eye gel). Another great gift idea!
