I have bad news: there are some crappy skincare products sitting pretty on some shelves right now. Sorry to state the obvious but I have to accept the harsh reality that when I pick up samples that seem promising, only to be disappointed when I've tried it or researched the ingredients. I'm constantly turning down marketing companies that want to shower me with some of their products when often it's not even worth writing about. Granted, there are some of those products out there are not all bad. But they're not completely good. I've seen a lot, tried a lot, sampled a lot and I have to admit, I'm not easily sold and have pretty high expectations (as you should, too).

With that said, there are some products that have managed to impress me, a few that have proved itself to stand out from mediocrity. One of the product's that have effortlessly commanded my attention is Buster's Organic Face Moisturizer (Peptide Complex).

I discovered Buster's back in January, when I spotted an advertisement in a men's magazine and immediately emailed the owner. He happily sent me a few samples, including Buster's Organic Face Moisturizer.
What's compelling about Buster's is that they are the first all-male organic brand I've come across (the closest to them is a brand called Bull Dog, based out of UK, which is only all-natural). It's almost a relief to know there's a brand devoted to organic ingredients and men's skincare.

Buster's Organic Face Moisturizer Peptide Complex is one for the record books, as it's completely original (challenge to anyone who can find me another men's-based moisturizer with peptides as the main concentration). Peptides are one of the best options for battling aging skin. We have to remember that skin is made up of collagen. As we get older, our collagen is sadly broken down and destroyed so our skin isn't tough, thick, smooth and young. Peptides are basically those building blocks of "mini proteins" that replaces that lost collagen. There's different types of peptides and different ways its meant to help you stay looking young.

In the face moisturizer, the peptides help stimulate the collagen, increasing the skin's thickness, refining those wrinkles and restoring elasticity to the skin. The moisturizer is also quite moisturizing (thanks to hyaluronic acid, which helps promote collagen formation, and it's, as I said just one sentence ago, very moisturizing, especially with the combination of jojoba oil and other botanicals).

I love how it also comes in three scents (natural, holiday and original)... you can pick and choose! The scents differ from the range of organic essential oils they use. Effortlessly one of my new favorite brands on the market (well, online, as they are not sold in stores yet).

I have normal-to-dry skin at any time of the year, in the night or in the morning and even under make-up. I use Made from Earth's Vitamin Enhanced Face Firming Serum. Its organic. It smells great too.

In fact the delightful-but-not-overpowering scent is what attracted me to the Made from Earth product line in the first place, in addition of course to it being organic and paraben-free. This product has been reigning on the top of my list of facial moisturizers for a while now.

I'm thinking about getting this for my boyfriend, as I know that he'll appreciate the fact that it's organic.

Wondering if the ingredients are non-comedogenic?

To market this product as a peptide complex is a farse! It takes a chemical process to link the amino acids in order to form the peptides. Mere inclusion of the separate amino acids does not facilitate the automatic transformation from amino acids to peptides.

Argirelen, and Matrixyl 3000 are examples of effective peptides. Although I think the Buster's products are interesting from an ORGANIC Marketing perspective, the claims, ie peptide complext is a complete farse!

Let truth in advertising chime in here please!

Excellent question Grasshopper. All the L-things listed in the ingredients are amino acids. A peptide is made from the linking together - in a particular order - of a-amino acids. The linkin between one amino acid and the next is called a peptide bond.

Sometimes ingredients list tripeptides - these are made from three amino acids - or a pentapeptide (five amino acids) and so on.

This is a good ingredients list to query. Can one amongst your staff, or you, Marta, tell me where the peptides reside? Are they among the Silk Protein Amino Acid Blend? I've seen that long list of "L- ingredients" before, but mostly on product labels that touted growth factors as their selling point, so I thought the long list of "L- things" were those. Teach me, Master... grasshopper
