Ah, the advantages of having a roommate: cheaper rent, free bananas (yes, I am known to take one of her bananas, or two) and often the whole apartment to myself (she basically lives at her boyfriend's home). Not to mention I get to meet famous bands like Franz Ferdinand and Klaxons (she, too, is in a famous band and is known quite well for her FannyPack fame (anyone remember that song Cameltoe?).
One of the best perks is that she's vegan, and this lifestyle is more than diet for her. With that said, you can always find a range of eco-friendly grooming products in our bathroom. One of my favorite products that she uses is von Nature Chaotic Powder Facial Masque ($53). It's part of the unisex line the brand offers.
The powder is very fine, chalky and gray. Weird color, I know, but its due to the activated charcoal ingredient. Weird ingredient, I know, but its known to draw out deep pore-clogging impurities like a magnet. Other ingredients include green clay, vitamin C ester and blue green algae. It's very earth-friendly and so no frills.
You mix equal amounts of liquid to the powder and apply. I personally love using yogurt for that extra antioxidant (yogurt also adds enyzmes and oils to the skin and can reduce pore size and the rich zinc content helps with acne).
This is a pretty fab detox mask that we both enjoy as it's not chockfull of unnecessary chemicals and ingredients. Von Nature is certified vegan, cruelty free, sulfate free, paraben free and toxin free. A holistic treat!
