This creamy lather cleanses without stripping skin of its natural oils and moisture

Has hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties; pleasant feel and smell

If anyone should cash in on the newly legal marijuana market, it should be Bob Marley. This is brand extension at its best in my opinion. Still, I was surprised to see that Marley Natural, which makes several varieties of pot, as well as surprisingly chic accoutrements for smoking it, extending into hemp-infused body care, including a body wash. The shower is a great place for a nostalgic, inevitably off-key rendition of I Shot the Sheriff, but would I be up for No Woman, No Cry after trying out the Marley Natural Hemp Seed Body Wash ($25)?

I don’t know what was being smoked when this was formulated, but I think it was probably some pretty good stuff. This is one really good body wash. The first thing to say about it is that although it does suds up a little, it is more like a creamy facial cleanser than your typical shower gel. I loved it immediately. It’s so nice and moisturizing that, in a pinch, you could get away without post-shower body lotion.

Hemp seed oil makes sense in skin care. Rich in the same essential fatty acids found in the skin’s own lipids, hemp seed oil can easily penetrate below the skin’s surface to improve moisture and elasticity. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that are perfect for those with sensitive skin, eczema or rosacea.

Marley Natural formulates with what it calls Jamaican botanicals. These include antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ginger and turmeric. Bitter melon is especially interesting as it heals wounds and is even claimed to be an inhibitor of breast cancer. And I also like the sound of garlic-smelling pokeweed, an anti-inflammatory used in herbal medicine for skin afflictions, and West Indian lemongrass, a pain reliever and antioxidant.

The surfactants are coconut-derived and relatively benign. The only thing to really dislike is the preservative phenoxyethanol. All in all, Marley Natural runs (smoke) rings around the average shower gel.

There is hardly any scent that I can discern with this body wash. A hint of ginger perhaps. But definitely not the pokeweed.

But what does it smell like? From your description of the ingredients, I would think it smells pretty damn nasty!
