If I have to be completely honest I wasn’t as excited to try the Me & the Girls Moon Beauty Serum ($38) as I should have been. It’s a facial oil and how excited can you really get over that? The base is jojoba oil and while I hear it’s the lovely Marisa Tomei’s favorite beauty product, wasn’t it just a boring old health food store staple for the hippie set? What good could it possibly do without neuropeptides and hyaluronic acid? Where are the apple stem cells, the retinol or Ester-C??

As it turns out, you can and probably should get excited. In fact, this product really couldn’t have come at a better time. My skin was suffering from product overload – samples here, new investments there (I’m looking at you Dr. Perricone) and my skin was looking a bit worse for the wear – red and uneven and starting to inexplicably break out. So I pared my routine down, replacing my motley assortment of deluxe sample tubes of god knows what with this “beautifying oil.”

What I liked most about this product is that it gives your skin an instant glow and seemed to calm my poor irritated skin almost immediately. I find for the fall season, the oil provides enough moisture that I can go without a cream altogether as it keeps my extremely dry skin plump and hydrated most of the day. Overall, it’s a good basic product to keep skin even toned, healthy, plump and hydrated. It doesn’t smell great though. I suspect it’s the tamanu oil that gives it a smoky, roasted tree bark smell. Not an issue for me though, so if you’re in your 20s and early 30s, I would definitely recommend this product. Realistically, it’s not going to erase your deep 11 lines, or give you a facelift, but if you’re looking for a basic go-to product that is completely natural, this is a good choice.

Ingredients: Punica granatum (Pomegranate Seed Oil)*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil)* , Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed Oil)*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower Seed Oil)*, Calophyllum inophyllum (Tamanu Oil)* , Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuacu Seed Butter)*, Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Oil)*, Vitamin E- Tocopherol

I love using face oils at night...especially in the fall and winter when my skin needs a little more moisture. I think I might purchase this one. I like the ingredients and sometimes I think less is more. Thanks for the review!
