Always on the lookout for a lightweight daytime moisturizer, especially on these last steamy days of summer, I was delighted to try Medik8's C-Tetra Vitamin C Day Cream ($75 in the shop).

The cream came beautifully packaged.  Seeing only these active ingredients listed - vitamin E, vitamin C (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate), hyaluronic acid, and glycerin - I was slightly taken aback by the words “professional strength” printed on the front of the label. Four simple ingredients that pack a real punch?  I was intrigued.

At 68, my skin is average, neither dry nor oily.  (Not average for a 68 year old though. Since finding Truth in Aging years ago, my skin looks great, and I'm usually mistaken for 10+ years younger than my years.)

First use, I found the cream light, almost silky, but substantial. It went on easily, absorbed quickly, and has a fresh, clean, light scent (natural fragrance and paraben free), with just a hint of citrus. Delicious. (The scent vanishes almost as soon as it's applied, for those with sensitive noses.)

Despite the lightness of this cream, a little goes a long way. After 30 days, I've barely used a third of the jar, although I've been generous in applying it to face, neck, and décolletage.

I didn't see any noticeable difference in my skin for the first two weeks, but it did feel softer right away, and more hydrated. After two weeks I started to notice that my skin was brighter, fresher looking and that only got more noticeable as the days passed.

I love this cream. It absorbs quickly, so no waiting to apply makeup. Both a mineral powder and a cream makeup glide on effortlessly and my skin doesn't feel loaded down with product.

The secret seems to be in the use of a tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, a 100% stable lipid form of L- ascorbic acid (vitamin C) combined with vitamin E which, according to Medik8's website description, "synergistically boosts the antioxidant effect, helping to protect the skin from free radical damage."

Hyaluronic Acid draws moisture to the skin, keeping it hydrated and plump, while glycerin, a safe and effective humectant, supports the skin’s natural barrier function while hydrating.

I love that four simple, but effective ingredients pack such a punch, and give this day cream two thumbs up.  I personally experienced improved all-over skin tone, brightening, super hydration, diminished fine lines around my eyes and mouth, and dewy soft skin.
