I’ve been using Medik8 Pretox 20 ($100), a “targeted wrinkle treatment,” for four weeks now. Medik8 states that Pretox 20 is an injection-free alternative to Botox, which I found to be a pretty cocky statement. Botox is a toxin that paralyzes muscles to prevent them from moving, which in turn prevents our faces from deepening our wrinkles. So what is Pretox 20 supposed to do, stop our faces from moving?
According to Medik8, muscles contract when they receive a neurotransmitter release from a nerve. Like Botox, Pretox 20 disrupts the nerve stimulation on the muscle tissue, but unlike Botox, this product doesn’t paralyze the muscle. Instead, it simply decreases the strength of the muscle contractions, thus reducing the formation of new wrinkles, and making old lines appear less prominent.
As Marta stated in this video, Medik8’s formulas are “extremely-targeted … science-driven and cutting-edge”. And they certainly are. The information they provide is thorough and, to me, fascinating. I like science. I like tests and proofs and validation of products, supporting efficacy. I’m all about efficacy.
I did see the lines between my eyes (my major concern) get shallower with repeated use of Medik8 Pretox 20. The lines on my forehead also showed improvement. Those are deeper, but there was still noticeable improvement. I didn't notice as much change with the lines at the corners of my eyes, but those are very fine.
But of course, the real proof is in what Medik8 Pretox 20 did for me. Well, I used it. And I can say with confidence that it really works!
