I am a 57-year-old woman and I have experienced numerous uncomfortable skin issues as a result of menopause. One of the most persistent and annoying issues has been recurring bouts of eczema on my face (eyelids, chin, nasal labial folds, hairline). Not only is the eczema unattractive, but also dry and itchy. I’ve never been plagued by eczema before the onset of menopause. I have tried all kinds of lotions, face washes, and creams, (some with hydrocortisone- but I have tried to use these sparingly) as well as dietary changes and acupuncture. Nothing has really eliminated the problem.

Before menopause I would have described my skin as combination. Now I would describe it as sensitive and dry.

I have been using Medik8 Red Alert Cleanse ($42.50 for 150ml/5oz in the shop) to wash my face for approximately six weeks, once in the morning and once in the evening. The product comes in a 5oz foaming pump container. I use about four pumps for a cleansing and probably have another week to two weeks of product left. The foamy consistency is light and airy and it has a pleasant smell of orange oil.

Active ingredients include teprenone, an anti-redness ingredient that claims to prevent skin hypersensitivity; vitamin K2 purported to strengthen capillary walls and reduce redness; and organic sweet orange oil that claims to have an anti-inflammatory effect.

I am happy to report that since I have been using Medik8 Red Alert Cleanse I have not had a single eczema outbreak! I believe this is the first time I can claim to not have had an outbreak for six weeks since I started experiencing eczema. I have also noticed a reduction in general redness in my skin, especially around my nose and on my cheeks. On the few occasions when I reached for my old, over the counter eczema face wash, I instantly noticed a slight burning sensation on my skin that I never notice with Medik8 Red Alert Cleanse. It must really be formulated for sensitive skin and doesn’t just claim to be so.

I will continue to make Medik8 Red Alert Cleanse part of my daily routine and will look into their other products as well. Thank you Truth In Aging for another well selected product!
