I am 58 years old and have a normal skin type with very few wrinkles or lines. I do have some sagging and skin pigmentation on my neck and chest. This is possibly a condition called poikiloderma where it looks like I have a light circle on the front of my neck and the sides have pigment discoloration around the white area. It is very frustrating and I have been working on reducing the pigmentation through various means over the past two-three years- hydroquinone, retinol, peels, laser, IPL, and vitamin C. I have had some, but only minor, improvement

When the opportunity arose to try this new type of skin lightener I was excited. Medik8 White Balance Click Oxy-R ($95) claims to contain the highest concentration (0.5% strength) of oxyresveratrol (Oxy-R) available in a cosmetic product. Oxy-R is an anti-pigmentation nature-based ingredient.

The product comes as two small bottles (10 ml or 0.3 oz) of serum. Each bottle has a lid that contains the Oxy-R. Before using the first time take one bottle and push and click the lid. That releases the Oxy-R into the serum. Mix and let sit for a few hours and it is ready to use. They provide two bottles to maintain the freshness and potency of the Oxy-R.

According to directions I applied to a clean face morning and night. The directions say to use three drops for the face, neck and chest, however in another place it says use four-five drops. I found that I was using more like eight drops to adequately cover all three areas. Despite my higher usage it did last almost 30 days.

It absorbs very quickly. There is a slight medicinal smell but not terrible and I soon forgot about it. It says it provides hydration but I actually found it to be a bit drying and always used some other sort of hydrator after the White Balance sunk in to my skin.

My results? I think the White Balance produced mild lightening and improvement. It seems like my pigmentation has broken up some and is not as pronounced in my trouble spots, but it is still there. I would give this product another go-round to see if I got additional lightening.
