Menaji Deep Cleansing Masque- reader reviewed and rejected
When I first read the directions that I would have to use the Menaji Deep Cleansing Masque ($26) two times a week for maximum benefits, I rolled my eyes… yup, I’m THAT lazy.
But I went out of my way to obey the instructions…
The first thing I did was research the ingredients. I went to Menaji's website and noticed they don’t list them. I find it really irritating when a skincare company does not list its ingredients on its own website. I went to another site where it was available and read them. While not thrilled with everything that’s in it, I figured using the product for a month wouldn’t be the thing that brings my face to its demise.
When I tried it for the first time, I felt like I was putting old Colgate toothpaste on my face… the texture and look needs improvement. I proceeded.
I eventually got it all on and felt as though I just let spackle dry on my face. I let it dry and couldn’t wait to get it off. I used warm water, and I don’t like to scrub my face, but in this case I had to. As usual, I probably used too much... lesson learned.
The following times I used the mask, I found it better for me to have my face a little moist before applying it. Then it wasn’t so bad. I proceeded to let it dry, then took my washcloth and let it “steam” the mask off. That worked better.
While I have nothing really bad to say about this product, I don’t have anything great to say about it either.
I don’t have any blemishes, and I’m not an outdoorsy kind of guy, so there are no real “environmental toxins” I’m concerned about. But it could be a good product if I were a guy who had oily skin or breakouts or was in construction and worked outside (though how many of those guys use a face mask or masque, rather – I’d say 85% of them do not even use sunblock!).
Maybe this would be more suitable for someone who has problem skin. Since I don’t, I saw no difference and it certainly can’t compare to the mask I use (WHICH I AM NOT MENTIONING cough, cough LVC). Maybe someone reading this knows a guy with problem skin and could recommend this product to them.
In closing, if I had to rate this on a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give it a 7. I don’t really want to not recommend it, but my thinking is the men who might benefit from this the most probably aren’t going to be reading this review!
