A reliable, non-irritating product that adds moisture

My skin has been going through a LOT lately. For the past month and a half I’ve been acting at one of America’s top haunted attractions, meaning über late nights and unsavory products like corn syrup blood on my face daily. My makeup removal routine requires peeling off prosthetics, cotton pads soaked in unidentifiable oily substance, manual scrubbing, and baby wipes. Shockingly, the Michael Todd True Organics Concentrated C Antioxidant Moisturizing Serum has managed to care for my face with a remarkably low amount of strife. I’m seriously impressed.

I typically have a once-a-day skincare routine which happens in and immediately following my shower. Most recently this meant a gentle cleanser with Clarisonic, Thayer’s Rose Petal Toner, and a combined application of Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum and Antioxidant Facial Oil, plus Eye Cream. I have skin that tends toward dryness with a significant amount of acne scarring and freckling and am frequently exposed to the sun, so I’m a big fan of both facial oils and vitamin c serums. I happened to run out of both Mad Hippies at about the same time, and Michael Todd True Organics Concentrated C Antioxidant Moisturizing Serum replaced them both. After sleeping in whatever remnants of my makeup remained at the end of my shift, I would shower, tone, apply Concentrated C Antioxidant Moisturizing Serum and walk out the door for work again. I loved how quick and simple this routine was but it managed to address quite a few skincare concerns.

Paraphrased from the Michael Todd website, Concentrated C Antioxidant Moisturizing Serum is designed to soothe and add moisture, repair sun damage, reverse premature aging, and treat pigmentation. While I feel some of these effects may take longer than 30 days to observe, especially with regard to lightening pigmentation, I was still impressed with the condition of my skin after using this product. The serum itself has a fantastic texture: silky, gel-like, yet rich and moisturizing. Plus, it has a lovely, robust citrus scent (not for those who don’t tolerate strong fragrance well, but I’m a fan). It leaves my skin feeling soothed and hydrated with a semi-matte finish that pleased my makeup artists and will probably serve at-home makeup application as well.

I also saw a significant reduction in the redness and inflammation of any blemishes that popped up on my skin, improving the look (and comfort!) of my skin even without makeup on. Come winter/indoor heating I may need to add a facial oil back into rotation (shout out to my favorite, Snowberry Soothing Facial Massage Oil but for mild autumn weather this is all I need in the way of both treatment and moisturizer.

Although Concentrated C Antioxidant Moisturizing Serum is expensive enough that I probably wouldn’t have tried it on my own, I’m so very glad TIA sent it my way. While one ounce seems small, I’m pretty liberal with my product application and still have plenty left after my month of testing. I will say that one full pump dispenses a lot of product. I usually just tap very lightly to dispense smaller amounts - one each for face, neck, and décolletage. For those for whom it matters:  though the bottle seems to be an airless pump it is, in fact not so. The pump top twists off. I would love an airless pump, but I guess you can’t have it all, and Michael Todd True Organics Concentrated C Antioxidant Moisturizing Serum certainly has most. This is a winner in my book, for sure!
