Billed as a hydrating, anti-aging toner, Michael Todd True Organics Cranberry Antiox Hydrating Anti-Aging Toner ($18 in the shop) delivers on its promise. Best of all, it's an organic toner formulated with an aloe juice base instead of water like so many other toners. Vitamins and antioxidants are combined with glycerin and panthenol which provides treatment and hydration. There is a small amount of tea tree oil for cleansing and I was pleasantly surprised that it cleansed without drying out my combination, mature (over 50) skin. The distinctive medicinal smell of tea tree isn't noticeable. The scent is slightly fruity, which I imagine is from the cranberry concentrate.
I expected the toner to sting a bit, but it smelled pleasant and didn't dry my skin, nor did it leave any kind of moisturizing film. I applied it morning and night with either a cotton ball or tissue after cleansing. My skin seemed clearer and brighter — no bumps under the skin or congestion.
Normally, I test a product for about a month before writing a review. However, this time life intervened and I ended up testing this toner for nearly eight weeks. My husband was in a motorcycle accident and I spent many nights at the hospital with him or returned home late at night. During this trying time, I wore no make up and didn't bother with any elaborate skin care regime. All I did was swipe my face with this product morning and night. My skin stayed clean, balanced and it felt good to know I was still caring for my skin in this minimal way by applying antioxidants from an organic product.
I highly recommend it!
