Michael Todd True Organics Hydration Boost ($37), a serum-moisturizer, is an absolute treat. It smells wonderful, probably due to the essential oils it contains. Don’t misunderstand me, though, this serum is not “fragranced” or strong in any way. It’s just a clean, fresh, vaguely green scent that refreshes the senses as you apply it. The texture is lovely too – very easy to spread on the face and absorbs quickly (though Michael Todd recommends you wait a few minutes for full absorption before putting on an additional moisturizer and/or makeup).

The first few days that I used the Hydration Boost, I did layer on a moisturizer, but I am thrilled to say that after a week, I no longer needed to do so. The serum really did what it said it would do. My skin was dewier, more hydrated, plump, and looked and felt fresh. I was so pleased with my results that not only will I purchase this product after I use up my sample, but I also plan to check out Michael Todd’s other serums. The prices are excellent, so trying more than one won’t break the bank.

There were only two very minor cons. First, the pump can be a bit enthusiastic and dispense too much product. I was able to get accustomed to it very quickly, though, and learned how to dispense just the right amount for my skin. Second, I experienced some minor breakouts after the first week, but since I was also dealing with a lot of stress at the time, I don’t think I can entirely blame the serum. Your mileage may vary if you are prone to breakouts, so be mindful. Perhaps you should start with a small amount, targeting your driest areas. You can always rub the extra on your hands – I did, and even noticed a difference there.

This is a great product that is well worth a try for those with skin in need of a moisture boost. I can’t wait to see what the other Michael Todd serums have in store!
