I have been using the Michael Todd True Organics Shea Honey Oatmeal Body Bar Soap ($7) for approximately a month now.  I'm 55 years old, and I have never been a big fan of bar soap, it was always very drying to my skin, and the whole idea of washing with a body bar to wash was unappealing to me.

With ingredients like shea, honey and oatmeal, I figured this must be very moisturizing. Additionally, I have used other Michael Todd products and have been very satisfied, finding that they perform as promised. However, with this product, that was not the case so much.

First of all, it claims to be moisturizing, with the perfect balance of shea butter, honey and oatmeal for even the most sensitive skin.  Now, I don’t have super sensitive skin, but my skin tends to be a little on the dry side, especially in the winter. and I did not find that this product lived up to its claims at all. While it does cleanse well and rinses off thoroughly, it left my skin feeling sort of dry and stripped as opposed to moisturized and balanced.

This brought me back to the fact that the whole idea of bar soap is really unappealing to me. Though, I had my husband test the soap, and he seems to like it better than I did.  If you are someone with normal skin, who doesn’t mind using bar soap, then this might be okay for you. But if you have dry skin, I would not recommend using it.
