Cons

Washing off the scrub takes time
A great scrub that leaves skin looking bright and alive

by Roisin

I have never encountered a skin scrub that didn't feel like I was either using a cheese grater on my face or left it so dry it felt like the cement pavements in July during a New York heat wave. Scrubs are tricky to nail. The beads can be too big or too rough on your skin but I felt Michael Todd's True Organics Tropical Fruit Enzyme Exfoliant Scrub ($18 in the shop) has been more than a scrub to my oily visage; it has nourished it.

It first of all has beautiful tropical packaging and smells delicious. Not overpowering like a generic 'fruit' smell cosmetic companies tend to sell, but fruity in a gentle way with subtle hints of kiwi and pineapple. It glides smoothly out of the tube (no shaking needed) and only a pea size amount is needed. I apply the scrub using the balls of my fingertips, gently massaging them into my skin. The beads are small and light and I can instantly feel the deep cleanse it's giving my face. I massage the scrub into my skin for five minutes. Using warm water I gently start removing the scrub. This takes some time - nearly as long as applying it, as I can feel when I miss some beads and have to give my face a thorough wash twice. I pat dry my face and look into the mirror. My skin is visibly brighter and more alive. To the touch, it's squeaky clean and so soft I wonder if I need to apply moisturizer. I don't even want to apply make-up over it!

Michael Todd's True Organics Tropical Fruit Enzyme Exfoliant Scrub was a complete winner for me and is now a staple in my morning and evening cleaning ritual. At last a scrub that does what it says on the bottle

Really wonderful exfoliant scrub. I often leave it on for longer to get the enzyme benefits, plus enjoy the delicious fragrance. Wish the phenoxyethanol wasn't so high on the ingredients list!
