A lightweight, nourishing gel that leaves skin feeling "just right"

Pros

Leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated, without being too greasy or too drying

Cons

Might not be moisturizing enough in colder weather

It was my pleasure to test Mukti Aloe Vera Moisturiser ($38.11) for 5 weeks. This moisturizer is recommended for combination and oily skin types. I’m 54 and now, amazingly, after decades of oily skin and hormonal acne, I have more normal skin, so I was willing to give it a try.

Mukti's website has a glossary of ingredients that is very informative and well worth your time to explore. This moisturizer is built on aloe vera which has many interesting properties, including facilitating burn and wound healing, calming irritation and sensitivity, and promoting collagen production. Calendula is another soother of inflammation, chapping, rashes and eczema.

These ingredients are followed by several bioactives native to Australia: Kakadu plum, Aniseed Myrtle and Finger Lime Caviar. It is also a certified organic line.

Happily, the generously-sized 1.7 ounces is packaged in miron glass, which gives me the confidence to leave it on my counter. It also came with a travel cap that doesn't allow the pump to accidentally dispense. The product itself is a light gel that requires about 2 pumps to cover your face and is very quickly absorbed. It feels refreshing and soothing, not at all greasy, nor is it drying or tightening.

I used it twice a day, and probably 75% of the mornings I was able to be comfortable without any other more emollient addition. Sometimes I needed a little more creamy moisture on flaky patches I tend to have in the same areas. There is still plenty of product left for many more weeks of use.

I think this is a great building block product that can stand alone or be combined with others. It has left my skin feeling very soft and hydrated, and I have confidence in the ingredients which is a must for me. I would use this year round, but maybe layer it with more emollient protection during cold weather. When my skin was very oily, and when it was combination, this moisturizer would have been a revelation! But for my new status of more normal skin, I feel a little like Goldilocks when I say, "it was just right!" I hope my experience widens the potential customers for this nice product.
