I am 50 years old and have dry, sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts and redness. A loyal fan of Truth in Aging, I am always in search of hydrating products to combat facial dryness without causing breakouts. At times, my skin is actually flaky, so I need a multitasking, heavy-hitting moisturizer that moisturizes, works well under makeup, lasts all day and is heavy enough to thoroughly hydrate during the night. Surprisingly, Mukti Marigold Hydrating Crème ($50.26) addressed those needs, and more.

What I love best: Mukti Marigold Hydrating Crème is a standout for several reasons, but primarily because this crème will hydrate your skin! It has a thick, creamy texture that you practically need to spoon out of the beautiful black glass jar that holds it.

I also love: The smell, the texture, how it melts into your skin and how you can use it on other dry body parts.

And: The price is reasonable, considering how much crème is in the jar and how little you need to use each day.

I've been using the Mukti Marigold Hydrating Crème for six weeks. This crème replaced my regular moisturizer without any difficulties. For the first two weeks, I used the crème on one side of my face for comparison purposes. I loved it right away and couldn't wait to use it on both sides. But using it on one side allowed me to confirm that, as rich as this crème is, it did not cause my face to breakout (I actually had more breakouts on the other side of my face.) I switched to using it all over my face, neck, and chest, as well as occasionally on my elbows and knees. I used it in the morning under makeup and at night over a prescription product and other anti-aging serums.

The crème calmed the redness in my skin and solved the dryness, without any bad side effects.

I wear makeup every day at work (usually a BB cream over my favorite RMS Beauty "Un"-Cover Up Concealer ($36 in the shop) on breakouts), so I didn't want anything oily or greasy to interfere—I just needed to calm the dryness and redness while providing a smooth surface for makeup. Although this is thick, it melts into your skin and absorbs as fast as any other moisturizer. Enjoy the aroma as you smooth it in! (It's my favorite-smelling facial product) If this doesn't moisturize your dry skin, I don't know what will. It worked for me even when I had a cold and my nose was dry, irritated and flaky. I scooped up a small amount and took it with me on a tropical vacation (it travels well since it is too thick to leak out of a smaller container.) Even though my skin wasn't as dry, I used it just because it smells so good!

You really need to read the ingredient list to see how much is packed into this crème. Note that the marigold extract is the second ingredient, followed by coconut oil, shea nut butter, Kakadu plum, cornflower and willow bark extracts, and followed by several more amazing ingredients (and nothing artificial).

Marigold, a member of the sunflower family, has carotinoids, flavonoids and essential oils. I believe that the marigold and Kakadu plum, which both have healing, anti-inflammatory properties, helped calm the redness in my skin, but the other ingredients probably helped as well.

Conclusion: This is a winning combination of soothing, healing, hydrating ingredients with an amazing fragrance, all packaged in a beautiful jar, which I can highly recommend to those of you with dry skin with or without redness and breakouts. For me, this is an amazing find and I will always keep a jar on hand. I'm going to check out Mukti's other products as well.
