My latest neck cream is Chella's Hydrating Face and Body Lotion

Salon line, Chella, has a peptide and botanical-rich potion that is for both face and body. It's unusual in these days of increasing micro-targeting, to have a multitasker. Somehow, a face and body lotion screamed out neck cream to me. Perhaps my thoughts went in that direction because my neck badly needs some TLC after a less than successful trial of Bioessentials V-Neck Smoothing Cream. Anyhow, my mind is made up and my neck and decollete are about to embark on a trial of Chella's Hydrating Face and Body Lotion ($77).

Looking at the ingredients, I'd say it looks promising. Powerful antioxidant Matrixyl (palmitoyl oligopeptide) is high up the list. It stimulates collagen synthesis and skin repair. Mineral aspartate is potentially interesting as aspartic acid salts are believed to be mineral transporters to metabolizing cells, aiding in the metabolic process by replenishing vital electrolytes thereby contributing to efficient energy production. However, there isn't much research to back this up. The inclusion of acne-controlling zinc could be useful in keeping chest breakouts at bay. And while we are into heavy metals, there is also copper, a powerful skin repairer.

Apart from vitamins, a host of botanicals fill out the rest of the ingredients. Green tea is an antioxidant with a proven track record, as is grape and yeast. So too is pomegranate, which has the additional benefit of being a natural sunscreen. Horse chestnut is good for reducing redness and preventing broken capillaries. Butcher's broom is an anti-inflammatory that soothes cuts and infections.

I will, of course, report back after a few week's of use. (Update: I am still using this as of December '09).
