I was looking for a night cream that would provide restorative, deep moisture for my 40-something combination skin, but I was skeptical when I first received my jar of My Prime Transformative Night Cream ($92). It's promise to provide an "ageless look that says, 'I’m in my prime.'" seemed pretty silly to me. That said, I do always slather on night cream before bed because it's what I've been told to do as my skin ages and requires additional moisture to the dry spots. And for the Truth in Aging Community, I was ready to do my part.
To my surprise, the very first morning after using My Transformative Night Cream I noticed a difference. When I say I have combination skin, I mean I have truly combination skin. I have one particular problem area where oil deposits simply love to sit, a little oil-filled pore that never seems to subside, not a zit or a boil or anything like that, just one little pore that rises up just below the surface of my skin. I am also prone to breakouts a few times per month, while at the same time I have dry, red patches across my cheeks and immediately outside my T-zone.
The first thing I noticed on the morning after I first used My Transformative Night Cream, was that my problem pore was less pronounced than usual. I thought I was imagining it. But over the course of the month, that little spot has not flared up at all. In fact, I had fewer breakouts this month than I have ever had. The one I did have was small and lasted just one day before subsiding. After two weeks using the night cream, my uneven skin tone -- largely the product of dry, red patches of skin -- had started to even out as the redness mellowed. After 30 days of use, the most dramatic changes have been the reduction of oily deposits and the lessening of redness in dry patches. But overall, my skin looks brighter and more youthful.
Some other notes on My Transformative Night Cream:
- It is odorless, which I love
- I was not originally a fan of the packaging, which is a tub-style pump dispenser... I found it hard to get exactly the amount that I wanted, but in the end I got used to it.
I should add, this is the only change I made to my skin care routine this month.
