Rilastil Intensive hand cream – Reviewed and Recommended

February 24, 2010 Reviewed by Marta 0 Comments
My hands are thoroughly neglected. I am really bad about regular manicures, and worse about wearing gloves or even keeping them moisturized during the cold months. But they say hands can really reveal your age, so I knew I needed to step it up – at least as a preventative measure.

That, and well that dry, scaly feeling I would experience as I began to type my work just didn’t feel pretty.

I expressed my grievances to Marta, and she handed me a tube of Hissy Fit’s Handy Work and Rilastil Intensive hand lotions to test out. I began using Hissy Fit on my right and Rilastil (an Italian brand that recently came to the US via the newly made over Duane Reade drugstores) on my left to see if any initial differences would pop out at me.

Hissy Fit’s is a little less greasy and has a slight citrusy smell. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it was a more sticky than I liked. I also felt I had to reapply it often. It does contain anti-aging benefits like SPF 30, but I decided to just continue on with Rilastil as a start.

I’ve been using Rilastil now regularly for a few days (more than I’ve ever used any hand cream in my life!), and it’s REALLY made a huge difference in not only how soft my hands feel but they actually look so much smoother. I don’t even have to use it more than once or twice a day. It’s a light cream but it absorbs quickly too without any residue.

The cream contains a chock full of moisturizers, including glycerin, shea butter (which has a high level of cinnamic acid, a natural sun screen). Shea butter is also an excellent skin smoother and a good source of vitamins A and E which help even out skin tone. Dimethicone helps to prevent itchy skin and works as an emollient to moisturize, and the ethylhexyl palmitate, a derivative of palm oil lipid and ultra mild, works as a skin smoothing ester.

I’m actually kind of addicted now – I carry it with me everywhere!
