Nutra-Lift products get a lot of air time here at TIA. Most of the products (if not all) get great review and are some are even for sale in the TIA shop. That’s why I was so shocked and disappointed in the Glycolic Plus NonSoap Cleanser ($19). On paper it seems like a great idea. Use this cleanser and better skin will be yours. Well, first the directions on the package were poorly written. I didn’t know to only use 2-3 times per week. There were no instructions at all about how much to use. So I was using every morning and night to wash my face. It was not until I looked at the Nutra-Lift web site that there were more details directions.

Good thing this product is like water or I probably would have dried my skin out something terrible. The “like water” part is why I have to pass on this product—in fact I stopped using it.  It comes out like water — how you’re suppose to get in on your face, let alone massage in for 1-2 minutes is beyond me. Most of it leaked through my fingers before I could get it to my face. And because of this I was finding I needed to cleanse my face prior to using this product to actually get my face clean. A few times it even dripped into my mouth—tastes kinda tart. Maybe it was the inclusion of polysorbate-20 which has been linked to irritation in moderate doses.

Now, the Acne Defense Lotion ($21) was a different story. At first I had a false start. During the first week of using this product my entire forehead broke out. I thought maybe it was just all the junk coming out from this new product that I was hoping  and praying was going to get rid of my acne breakouts for good. Starting in the second week it was getting no worse and no better. I couldn’t believe that both of these products were a bust so I started looking at what else I had changed about my routine realizing I had also recently switched shampoos. I immediately stopped the new all natural shampoo and poof forehead acne was improving. Now I could actually start my test.

For $21.00 this little guy is a gem. I only used 2 squirts in the morning and night  applying to my entire face. In the morning I also applied a sunscreen to help protect my skin from the rays. After 2 months of use (taking away the first 2 weeks) I can say my acne has gotten better. Breakouts occur much less often. They are easier to nip in the bud and don’t form during that certain time of the month like they could be guaranteed to do prior. I also have not had any issues with staining of my bedding/cloths which is another good thing. Now I do still get some under the skin bumps but they are not developing into acne or scars which is a change for the positive. Even a few times I didn’t  *gasp* wash my face at night and still didn’t have issues with breakouts. I think for $21.00 this may become part of my daily routine. I’ve listed the directions below since they recommend using the NonSoap NonOil Cleanser which I did not test.

DIRECTIONS: Wash Face with NonSoap NonOil Cleanser. Cover entire effected area with a thin coat, one to three times daily. Because excess drying may occur, start by one application daily. Then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or directed by doctor. If dryness or peeling occurs reduce application. As with any new skin care product, skin test 24 hours before use.
