Nutra-lift Maximum Protection SPF 30 Plus- reader reviewed and recommended

I received this unassuming bottle of sun protection the day before I embarked on a sunny vacation to the western Caribbean. My husband and I were off on a cruise sans kids for five days where we would be enjoying Grand Cayman, Cozumel and of course the ship while at sea. I was going to put this bottle of promise to quite the test and I have to admit I didn't expect too much.

One of the things that stresses me most while packing for a vacation is what sun protection am I using for all the areas of my body that need protection. I usually have one for my body and one for my face plus a bevy of hats and sunglasses. I take my sun protection very seriously. However, I have never been impressed with one particular sunscreen enough to purchase it again. I seem to start each warm season out with a new bottle of promise. I do prefer to stay with the physical sunblocks, and also like to keep the ingredients as natural and/or organic as possible.

So, in reviewing the ingredient list for Nutra-Lift's Maximum Protection UVA & UVB SPF 30 ($21 in the TIA shop) it read more like an organic smoothie than a sunscreen. Aside from the 10% zinc oxide and 2% titanium dioxide (no chemical sunscreens here) there was aloe vera and oat protein to soothe the skin. Extract of soybean, sunflower seed, almond, white cranberry, pomegranate, carrot, cucumber and green tea all combating free radicals and boosting protection of your skin. The inclusion of ascorbyl palmitate and mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) was also nice to see in that ascorbyl palmitate acts as free radical scavenger promoting healthier skin and works synergistically alongside vitamin E for better absorption.

So now for the skinny. Although I was SO wary of slathering this new lotion on my very sensitive and prone-to-break-out skin on a cruise with my hubby, I was so glad I did. Not only did I not break out from the use of this lotion all week, it made my skin look better. It looked moistened with a nice healthy glow. As far as performance, it far exceeded my expectations. I wore this lotion while sitting out on the balcony reading, sunbathing on deck, while diving in the beautiful waters of the Caribbean and being stuck on a boat in the sun to and from our diving spots. My family and I (2 young boys) even wore this lotion at the beach for 2 days once back to Florida. All to say, I wanted to put this bottle of promise to the ultimate test for myself and for you. We NEVER got burned once and the protection from this SPF seemed to last on and on even when in and out of the water. Because as you know, we are not always good about reapplying our SPF.

Another reason I am smitten with this sunscreen for my family and I is because it doesn't leave you a greasy mess with a white halo. In fact there was no tinge at all---it glided on easily and without a white film. The bottle did say it was a new and improved, less whitening formula so I guess they have really improved upon it's quality. There is also no strong odor or fragrance added. Another addition I appreciate. It seemed to absorb quickly and I didn't have the stress of having it rub off on clothing.

I love the ingredients, I love the protection and I love how my skin looks with it on. I think this is a great product and it made my vacation that much more enjoyable. I'll be coming back to this product again and again.

Thanks for your great review. This is a lovely product for face and body. It goes on very smoothly, especially considering the amount of zinc oxide contained. One of the only sunscreens that doesn't 'gray' up my dark skin with a dull whitening effect. The small bottle goes farther than I thought since it spreads so well. My other favorite is Badger SPF 30 for rigorous outdoor activity and extended swimming. A perfect shield that really holds up. It's just not practical for everyday use, so between the two I highly recommend!

This product looks interesting! Since I'm an extreme product junkie I know the importance of wearing a sunblock. What I have found is that although most skincare junkies aware about the obligatory daily use of a sunblock (if you aren't than you DEF should reconsider your title!), most do not realize the amount of the product one must apply to achieve them SPF level of protection mentioned on the packaging. Depending on the formulation, one must apply anywhere from a teaspoon to tsp and a half of the product! I actually measured this and that is a LOT! Additionally, provided that one actually applies this amount, if the product is a chemical based sunscreen, the product MUST be reapplied every two hours, after which any measurable level of protection is completely gone!

Thank you for the review! I have been considering this for a few weeks! the ingredients and size were awfully tempting, but there were no reviews anywhere so I ended up buying Devita's solar Protection (only 1.7 oz). I will definitely try the Nutra-lift when Devita runs out.
