An excellent multi-tasking oil that softens and nourishes skin, hair, nails and cuticles

Especially effective as a conditioner for hair and a treatment for nails and cuticles

Feels a little heavy on face during hot and humid weather

I am relatively new to the world of facial oils. I have tried two different facial oils in the past six months and have liked the results, so I was very happy to try the Olie Biologique 100% Organic Argan Oil ($15/10 ml). I have heard about the many benefits of argan oil and was excited to see how this oil would deliver. According to Olie Biologiue’s website, there are several uses for argan oil, and it is suitable for all skin types, including oily skin. For the face, this oil can be used as a daily moisturizer, for a mini facial massage, as an addition to foundation, as a moisturizer booster and as an overnight facial treatment. The oil can be used on your nails, cuticles and hair, as well.

Argan oil is a plant oil that is produced from the kernels of the argan tree. The ingredients in Olie Biologique’s oil consist of 100% USDA certified organic argan oil. According to their website, this oil is 100% pure and is non-processed, chemical-free organic argan oil of the highest quality. Argan oil is naturally rich in vitamins, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, carotenoids, ferulic acid, sterols and polyphenols.

Olie Biologiue maintains that their argan oil will improve many skin conditions, like dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles and premature aging. They state it won’t clog pores and that it regulates sebum production, that it restores elasticity to skin and noticeably softens wrinkles and fine lines. They also say that the oil reduces skin irritation and inflammation, smooths stretch marks, strengthens brittle nails and restores shine to hair and helps split ends. Wow — I was very eager to try this oil for all of the above reasons.

The oil has a nice texture to it; I have seen some oils that are watery in their consistency but this one is not. I did not detect any scent. The bottle is a generous 1.7 ounces and you only need to use a small amount of oil. It goes a long way.

I am 58 and have combination/oily skin. I started using this oil in place of my moisturizer at night for the first week. I used about three drops and smoothed it over my face. I found this to feel a little heavy on my face during the hot and humid weather, so I cut back to using this two to three times a week. I also did use this as a mini-facial massage once a week. I used about three to four drops and massaged the oil into my face. This oil did not clog my pores and my face felt hydrated afterward. After using it for about a month, I have noticed that my t-zone is not as oily. I don’t know if this is a result of using the argan oil or it may be a combination of using this with other products. I have not noticed a softening of fine lines or wrinkles, but this might happen with continued use.

I used the oil in my hair about twice a week. For reference, I color my hair. It can be oily at the roots, but it is somewhat dry. It is also thick and can be unruly when it is hot and humid. After using the argan oil, my hair seemed to calm down a bit and was more manageable. I used four to five drops of oil and massaged it in my scalp and hair. I then brushed my hair to distribute the oil even more. Sometimes I left the oil on for about 10 minutes and other times I left it on for up to a half-hour. I then shampooed my hair and found that it felt clean and soft — it did not have that “waxy” feel that sometimes happens after using conditioner. Once it dried, my hair looked shinier, too.

I also used this on my nails and cuticles and this definitely sold me on the oil. My cuticles are in rough shape year round — from dryness in the winter to gardening in the summer. I tried to remember to use the oil on my cuticles and nails every night. I saw a huge improvement in my cuticles. They are now smooth and much softer without ragged, hard edges and they feel and look so much better. My nails may be a little stronger too since using the argan oil.

I recommend this argan oil. Personally, I like the Mad Hippie Antioxidant Facial Oil better to use on my face. But I like this argan oil to use a conditioner for my hair, and I especially like this as a treatment for my nails and cuticles. This really is a “multi-purpose” product and for what you get, the price is great.
