I have been using the Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip & Tuck ($35) for more than a month now. I should preface this review with a brief description of the condition of my lips at the outset of this trial. I am in my 60s and have had longstanding problems related to severely dry lips. I should also mention other factors which may contribute to this issue, including medication and the fact that I do not consume the amount of fluids that I should.
Regardless of the source of my difficulty, my lips were frequently red and raw. They were noticeably scaly and peeled so deep at times that they bled. I have tried numerous drugstore products, including lip conditioners, chapsticks and creams. I also tried some department store cosmetic lines and a pricey lip exfoliant that I purchased from my doctor. None of these products brought me any lasting relief. The condition of my lips was not only a source of embarrassment to me, but caused me considerable physical discomfort, as well. I could never wear lipstick because to do so only made the scaliness more obvious.
Call it serendipity, but I had recently purchased the Truth Vitality facial tool from the Truth in Aging website and was browsing through one of the emails from the site when I saw the opportunity to trial the Osmotics Blue Copper 5 Lip & Tuck. I applied, was selected and have been using the product since receiving it.
The serum comes with a convenient wand applicator, much like many lip gloss products. My first thought was that there would not be sufficient product in the container to last an entire month, but I was wrong. I have been using the product several times a day for more than a month and still have a little bit of serum left.
From the first use, I noticed that the product was not sticky or waxy, which are common issues with many products I have tried. This product made my lips feel silky and smooth and this effect lasted for a few hours after applying it. This has been consistent.
After a few days of use, I noticed a modest reduction in both the degree of scaliness and the peeling and burning that have been longstanding problems for me. Unfortunately, the relief was temporary and the issues re-appeared after a few hours. In response, I increased my use to several times a day in an effort to achieve more lasting benefits. This has been only partially successful.
After using the product for a month, I found that the burning sensation is reduced and is less severe than I experienced in the past. My lips are not as red and raw as they once were and the peeling, although still present, is less deep than previously. I no longer receive comments about how sore my lips look because they are not as sore as they used to be. While not perfectly smooth, the condition of my lips has improved to the extent that I can actually wear lipstick if I choose to.
In summary, this product did not provide the resolution I was hoping for. That being said, I would not say that using this product was not worthwhile. I have experienced definite, if somewhat modest, improvement in the condition of my lips. I am really grateful to have been afforded the opportunity to take part in this trial.
