It has been well over three years that I stumbled across a product called Oro Gold. I thought that a product that contained real gold and a price tag to match could only be the “fountain of youth” that we have all been searching for. Well, I did and I still do love their 24K Gold Deep Peeling Gel, but I was not the least bit impressed with the Oro Gold Serum. I saw no visible results in the tone or texture of my skin. Now, over three years later, I was introduced to Prana Spaceuticals AU 24K Gold Serum ($96 in the shop) on Truth in Aging. I feel fortunate to have been chosen to use and review this luxurious product.
Both serums contained visible flakes of gold submerged in a clear gel-like substance that disintegrates as soon as you begin to massage the product into your skin; however, the results of the two brands were far from similar. The AU 24K Serum is designed to restore the skin’s vitality, and tighten and promote circulation while providing anti-inflammatory properties. It targets those individuals with normal to dry mature skin, with a loss of elasticity, fine lines, and dark under eye circles. It is also specifically for those women who are experiencing premenopausal and menopausal symptoms. Upon application, done morning and night, I noticed a slight sticky feeling, but as it dries this seems to dissipate, leaving the skin feeling tighter, with a noticeably healthy glow to the complexion. This is the perfect product for those who choose not to wear foundation and, at the same time, ideal for those who prefer to wear a foundation.
The AU 24K Gold Serum made the lines around my eyes and mouth less noticeable, and the tone and texture of my skin more even. My skin also feels very supple and smooth after applying this product. Prana also suggests that you apply this to your décolleté but, with a price tag of $96 for one fluid ounce, the product would only last about a month.
Prana’s list of ingredients is, in my opinion, very impressive. The hydrators include: sodium hyaluronate, aloe vera gel (which is also known to reduce wrinkles, improve the texture and complexion of the skin and reduce inflammation and skin irritations), hydrolyzed wheat protein, which also increases firmness of the skin and, lastly, allantoin, which binds moisture and aids in the healing and repair process. Prana also likes to use B-12 as another healing ingredient. Additional inflammation fighters included in the product are chamomile, which increases cell regeneration, and green tea, which reduces sun damage by quenching free radicals. The wrinkle-fighting ingredients are pycnogenol and ginseng, which helps with oil gland production. The collagen boosters and expression line inhibitors are credited to the use of marine collagen, pycogenol, and several different peptides. The ingredient centella asiatica is also known to boost circulation, improve the collagen foundation of the skin, fights oxidation, and has healing properties as well. The last ingredient is chitosan, which happens to be a natural preservative that is extracted from shellfish. It inhibits the growth of bacteria.
This product won me over for its immediate performance. The improvement in texture and tone are noticeable after the very first use. It is so rare to find an effective product that does wonders for the complexion. I look forward to using the other half of this effective serum. I fully recommend this to those “forty-plus” women. Thank you TIA for allowing me this opportunity to share my experience using the Prana AU 24K Serum, which for me is my little one-ounce fountain of youth.
