I have been using Prana Pumpkin Scrub ($60) twice a week for about four weeks now and have quite enjoyed the results. This exfoliating mask left my skin silky smooth and made my pores appear smaller. As a woman in her (oof) late 30s and a former severe acne sufferer, the main results I have seen, however, have been in the decrease in appearance of acne scars from my teens and 20s. I think this is likely due to the inclusion of papain in the ingredients as this has been shown to not only exfoliate, but also dissolve scar tissue.
A little goes a long way with this scrub — about a dime size dollup is all that is needed. I wasn’t able to use the product more than twice a week due to the roughness of the exfoliating walnut shells. I would recommend using the gentlest touch when massaging this scrub into your skin as the shells are quite rough. This would be my only complaint about it. In researching the ingredients, I found that the inclusion of polyethylene is likely to make the texture lighter and counteract the roughness of the walnut shells (this is only an assumption as I could find no other reason to include polyethylene in a face scrub). That being said, I didn’t find it to be light at all. Regardless, when massaging gently, I still got exfoliating results.
I found that leaving the scrub on my skin for no more than 5 minutes (the instructions recommend leaving the mask on for 5-10 minutes) was plenty — any longer and my skin would turn a little red.
I used the scrub at night right before bed and followed it with a nighttime moisturizer. My skin still felt silky smooth the next morning as a result of using the scrub.
I also really enjoyed the scent. It is a very light scent reminiscent of Thanksgiving dessert, but not too strong or overpowering.
I would recommend Prana Pumpkin Scrub for skin softening, and pore and acne scar reduction.
