Primavera Natural Balance Hydrating Mask

Is a Solution for:
Dull Skin, Oily Skin

Primavera Natural Balance Hydrating Mask ($56) is a good product that suffers from marketing hyperbole. It is claimed that it "dramatically hydrates" the skin. That was not my experience. I found it pleasant to use, I liked the mostly organic ingredients, but the results were good, not dramatic.

This mask is light and almost transparent. This is a major plus, in my view; I don't particularly enjoy those thick masks that set hard and make you look as if you are about to participate in an ancient civilization's rain dance. On rinsing off, my skin looked healthily (not dramatically) hydrated.

Like Astara Blue Flame Purification Mask ($42) (a recent find that I have found is really brilliant at zapping zits), Primavera has bentonite, a kind of clay that is good at removing excess oil and impurities. I also like the inclusion of avocado oil, rosehip oil and pomegranate. Rosehip seeds are about 77% fatty acids and pomegranate is a high performing antioxidant, while avocado is a great moisturizer.

A botanical worthy of a call-out is ribwort. This is a plantain and removes impurities from the blood and helps with ezcema, irritations and cuts. There is also salix alba (white willow) bark. The active ingredient in the bark is salicin, which is similar to aspirin. I am not quite sure of the value of cetraria islandica (Icelandic moss). The only information I could find on its medicinal qualities is that it is "strongly demulcent" - which means it is good at soothing the mucous membrane.
